The web-based software can assist a clinician in making the correct decisions in a complex patient encounter.

Linking decision support to POC test results at the time of a clinical encounter adds real value by converting test results to clinical action according to best practice rules. This is an area of weakness in current medical practice. It will give major benefits in high-stress situations such as disaster relief and front-line defence.

Decision support is tailored to suit the expected audience. Advice appropriate for the pharmacy, for example, differs greatly from clinician advice (e.g. “advise the customer to see their doctor, or go to hospital outpatients, immediately.”) This addresses a clear medico-legal requirement for non-clinician POC testing, enabling a new user market.
